Difference between Meme and GIF

MEME

A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person within a culture -often with the aim of conveying a particular phenomenon, theme, or meaning represented by meme.

Mainly a meme acts as a unit for carrying culture ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals,or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme.

GIF

GIF stands for ''Graphics Interchange Format.'' GIF is an image file format commonly used for image file format commonly used for images on the web and sprites in software programs. Unlike the JPEG image format,GIFS uses lossless compression that does not degrade the quality of the image.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A MEME AND A GIF

GIF is usually a looping animation (Although still images sometimes get stored using that file format, it's mostly associated with looping animations).
Mainly GIF is more about formate.a little extract of a video or an animation.

A meme can be  anything, a still image, a GIF.or even just phrase or idea that is spread from person to person. Sometimes it mutates and takes on a life of it's own.(Ideas are infectious and frequently mutate, sort of like the flu virus.)

For example:

This is not a GIF, although it is a part of the ''vintage harry potter memes'' series

On the other hand this is a GIF, but it's way too generic to be a meme

and this is both a GIF and MEME
